Are all people born good?

According to this theory, the evil that some people exhibit is the result of environmental factors—people only turn “bad” when external forces beyond their control twist them away from their basic goodness. This is a false, unbiblical view of human nature. The Bible teaches that none of us are good. We are all born sinners with a sinful, selfish nature  inherited from Adam . Unless we are born again by the Spirit of God, we will never see the kingdom of God ( John 3:3 ). Psalm 14:2–3  counters the idea that anyone is “good”: “The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.” Add to this Jesus’ statement th

What does the Bible say about dancing?

Imagen
GotQuestions Bible questions answered https://www.gotquestions.org/ All rights reserved-Published with permission The Bible doesn’t give specific instructions on dancing. It may be helpful to point out some examples of good and bad dancing, and then mention some biblical principles to build dancing standards on.  Exodus 32:6 ,  19-25 —This is a disappointing part of Israel’s history. While Moses was up on the mountain talking to God, the Israelites built an idol. In the process of the idol worship, they began to dance. This ended up in "revelry" (v. 6) and being "out of control" (v.25 says "naked" in some translations). In this case, dancing led to very sinful activity. In  Exodus 15:20  Miriam was dancing to celebrate the victory God’s power had brought at the Red Sea.  Second Samuel 6:12-16 —David " danced before the Lord " to celebrate the Ark of the Covenant being brought back to Jerusalem. Every instance of dancing that is not considered sin

What does the Bible say about how to handle a sibling rivalry?

Imagen
GotQuestions Bible questions answered https://www.gotquestions.org/ All rights reserved-Published with permission Sibling rivalry goes back to nearly the beginning of time, starting with the first two brothers mentioned in Scripture,  Cain and Abel . We find other sibling rivals in the Bible, including Ishmael and Isaac,  Esau and Jacob , Leah and Rachel,  Joseph  and his brothers, and  Abimelech  and his brothers. In each case, the sibling rivalry led to one or both siblings taking ill-advised, sinful action. God desires that siblings live in harmony and love with each other ( Psalm 133:1 ). Brotherly love is used as an example of how believers should treat each other ( Hebrews 13:1 ;  1 Peter 3:8 ). We know, though, that in the real world sibling rivalry exists. Brothers and sisters argue and fight each other, lie and trick each other, and generally treat each other horribly at times. A parent’s job is to raise children to be Christlike, so we should look to Jesus to see what He said

What are the dangers of postmodernism?

Imagen
GotQuestions Bible questions answered https://www.gotquestions.org/ All rights reserved-Published with permission Simply put, postmodernism is a philosophy that affirms no objective or absolute truth, especially in matters of religion and spirituality. When confronted with a truth claim regarding the reality of God and religious practice, postmodernism’s viewpoint is exemplified in the statement “that may be true for you, but not for me.” While such a response may be completely appropriate when discussing favorite foods or preferences toward art, such a mindset is dangerous when it is applied to reality because it confuses matters of opinion with matters of truth. The term “postmodernism” literally means “after modernism” and is used to philosophically describe the current era which came after the age of  modernism . Postmodernism is a reaction (or perhaps more appropriately, a disillusioned response) to modernism’s failed promise of using human reason alone to better mankind and make

Why pray?

Imagen
GotQuestions Bible questions answered https://www.gotquestions.org/ All rights reserved-Published with permission For the Christian, praying is supposed to be like breathing, easier to do than to not do. We pray for a variety of reasons. For one thing, prayer is a form of serving God ( Luke 2:36-38 ) and obeying Him. We pray because God commands us to pray ( Philippians 4:6-7 ). Prayer is exemplified for us by Christ and the early church ( Mark 1:35 ;  Acts 1:14 ;  2:42 ;  3:1 ;  4:23-31 ;  6:4 ;  13:1-3 ). If Jesus thought it was worthwhile to pray, we should also. Another reason to pray is that God intends prayer to be the means of obtaining His solutions in a number of situations. We pray in preparation for major decisions ( Luke 6:12-13 ); to overcome demonic barriers ( Matthew 17:14-21 ); to gather workers for the spiritual harvest ( Luke 10:2 ); to gain strength to overcome temptation ( Matthew 26:41 ); and to obtain the means of strengthening others spiritually ( Ephesians 6:18-
